The Computational Science and Engineering Program
at Michigan Technological University

Computation oriented research is has become an integral part of almost all sciences and engineering research and the role of the scientists working in a specific discipline is gradually being replaced by teams that include individuals with computational background and experties. In recognition of this change, Michigan Technological University established the Computational Science and Engineering Ph.D. Program.

The Computational Science and Engineering Program at MTU has two main components: the non-departmental CSE Ph.D. program and the Computational Science and Engineering Research Institute (CSERI). The CSERI serves the Ph.D. program and the entire research community at MTU. This multidisciplinary program faciliates the application of methods and techniques from the fields of computer science and mathematics to emerging problems in sciences and engineering. The program brings together faculty and students from across campus who have a common interest in and need for computational oriented research beyond the capabilities of the average non-computer science investigator and typical desktop machines.

This site is organized as follows:

  • CSERI: details concerning the research institute
  • CSE PhD: details concerning the Ph.D. program
  • People: list of current faculty, students and alumni
  • Projects: descriptions of CSE projects
  • Archive: repository for documents and reports, notably the Charter and Handbook
  • Administration: details of the adminstration of the program
  • Contact / Apply: information to help get touch with us
